San Francisco

I had a couple of extra hours to kill before flying home from San Francisco. I headed down to Fisherman's Wharf, stopped at Blazing Saddles on Pier 41, rented a nice Marin hybrid for $28 and headed out to the Golden Gate Bridge. What a nice ride. It was a San Francisco cool and windy summer day, but even with a few hills it was a great two hour ride up across the bridge and back. With a little more time, you can ride from the Wharf, across the bridge, down to Sausilto and take the ferry back to the pier. You are mostly on a combined bike and walking trail. You'll meet lots of other tourists. When you are done you can buy a "I biked the bridge" T shirt if you are so inclined.

A Peddling Wish

Thanks for coming to this blog. Here's what I'd like to accomplish. The long term goal is to be part of creating a safe, comprehensive bicycle plan for Andover. I'd like to think that at some point (I'll call it the 25-year bike plan), the town will have a series of linked paths and safe roadways which the residents can use for recreation, shopping, business and commuting. Students will learn the rules of safe biking early on, drivers will share the roads willingly and our town will be viewed as a model for other community biking efforts. Care to join in for the ride?
